i have heard this same sound but not yet tackled the problem,, mine is not exh nor eng mount,, its sounds like a strut or stabilizer bar bushing ,(even thought the bushing look ok) ...

unless K&N has changed they are full of holes,, look thru the filiter toward a light or the sun and take note of what you see,, hopefully they have changed but i doubt it.

are you sure you didnt twist the door mount at the hinges,, its possible.. this sometimes happen using improper car lifting / jacking procedure

pls change oil before 7k,,, when my co. had mgt cars and changed the oil at 4-5k we had no cam chain issues,, once they went to 7-8 k (for cost reductions) the tensions became worn in some engines...

ive changed a lot of these,, there must be something wrong with your setup,,never had a problem using 150-200ftlbs. i have seen some come loose from the factory setup and cause noise.

running cleaner thru the intake plenum is a good idea if you start it on a new engine.

all the junk and i mean junk,, comes out and travels into the cyl and down stream on a high mileage engine,,...

ive tried 87 octane and 91 while using the scan gage and i see no difference in the ignition timing during acceleration etc. this while runing below 190 F.
