He is heating up only two inactive coils on each side, just to make it sit right in the spring perch. Active coils (the ones that compress) remain untouched, so it shouldn't make any difference.

Just an update: the rotor tuned out to be warped....
Just an update: the rotor tuned out to be warped. For now I just brought it to a local shop to resurface it. Depending on how it will behave in the future I will probably replace it.
