It might run smoother. But since it also depends on the springs, it's not possible to predict how the car will ride without knowing what springs you got.

Should ride the smoothest out of anything if you're going to use stock springs.

there you go: http://forums.maxima.org/6264964-post310.html
torque specs are written right on the diagram. Units are written at the lower left corner of each diagram.

Its easiest to reach the rear strut towers from the trunk.. Although honestly once you get them where you want them you're not going to change the settings because it requires moving the carpeting out of the way and also laying in your trunk on your back with a flashlight and a small screw driver or butter knife in an awkward position.
I changed the settings a few times initially but now I havent touched them in over a year.

I've been doing some reading up on suspension mods but before I purchase anything I have a question.. I've upgraded the front shocks to KYB AGX shocks 2 years ago (02 Maxima) but I am hearing a lot of tire squeeling from the front when I take turns, most of the time I am not even really exceeding the limit. I've chalked it up to the car not having a great turning radius or any lowering mods, but I am wondering if a front strut bar might help this problem? I've never had a car handle this badly and squeel at the speeds that I am squeeling at...For example 25 mph turn taken at 30 MPH results in a high pitch squeel from the front tires. I figure buying a front strut bar is cheaper than two new tires. Thanks for your help

I would recommend bringing the car to an aliment shop before you do any other mods. From what you are describing, it sounds like something is wrong with the wheel aliment. (or some suspension part is bent)
BTW, it could also be some cheap tires.

I would love to see a comparison between Progress/H&R springs.
I have illuminas and was wondering if progress springs would give me a decent smooth ride campaired to H&R. How much of a difference in ride quality are we talking about? I live in Colorado, roads are pretty bumpy at times.. What should I do, I would like to have a nice ride but still keep the looks. H&R's look kinda funny in the front!

Does anyone know the diameter of the OEM Coil Springs (front and rear) for the 2001 Maxima?
quiksilver20004 your Max looks tight and low. Do you have any problems turning?

Low and Go....
I really like the lowered look, but I've read many posts about suspension noises after changing to coilovers and drops very low to the ground. You might check with www.nissanusa.com for applicable service bulletins and recalls?

I have a set of k-sport 36way adjustable coilovers on my max thats why it sits so low. I can set it lower but the stock axles wont handle it. I am getting ready to have Raxles make a custom set of axles for me.

Lowered and Reliable
I am not ready to replace the springs and struts yet, but I believe I want Tein Super Dampers Coilovers w/ the EDFC (auto adj). I am not into having too many adjustments that required touching the coilovers after the install. If anyone has the Tein w/EDFC please chime in on this thread......

With coilovers having many more settings you may adjust them more but I know with my illuminas I got them where I want them and havent touched them in over a year thus I dont think the EDFC is worth it.. but it is a neat gizmo.

Yeah my buddy has the EDFC system on a twin turbo 300zx but he rarely used the system unless he was taking it to autocross or wanting to soften it sevearley for long highway driving but remember the car he had was built specifically for road coarse driving. I was actually looking into the system and from what i remember Tien doesnt make a set of coilovers for the max that can use the EDFC system. They may have come out with a new product though not sure.

According to the Tein.com or an error, the EDFC is available to work with the Maxima. Please share more about the 300ZX TT and EDFC because I wondered about the one for my Z as well. Have him send info to me at turbozx96@earthlink.net.

Well he just left for basic training so i cant get a whole lot of info for ya. I know we finished putting the car back together 3 days before Z nationals at talladega and he took it down there and said it ran and handled amazingly.

I just went i teins site and it seems that since the last time i was on there looking for coilovers they did not offer the SS coilovers with the upper pillowball mounts which are what make it possible to use the EDFC system. So yes you can utilize this system. The only downside to those struts is that they are a twin tube design which cant use as aggressive of spring rates but they are still great struts.
