Check the Heat Shield first, they have a known history for cracking, when you accelerate the grinding noise comes from the vibration of the 2 pieces rubbing together!

You should listen to the dealer, the filter is part of the pump!!! It's not a seperate filter that runs in-line with the fuel line like older cars!
