steering knuckle can lean outward more. I probably filed the holes
about 1mm towards the outside which was more than enough....

Of course it's alright. The lower the drop though, the more likely the
struts/shocks will die sooner. I installed Maxspeed springs on stock
struts/shocks and have no problems for 8 months now....
