Probably not - autocross isn't a regular thing for me, and surely not with my daily driver. I'll probably take it easy tomorrow to see how it goes.

I'll probably be selling the car next year once...

Yeah, the rear brake pads had plenty of life but had crystallized and were hard as a rock. This explained the metal-to-metal sound I heard.

I thought I'd reply to say that my 3-year-long saga is finally over.

The rear brake clips needed to be replaced. That's it. A 5 minute, $30 fix. My Maxima no longer sounds like a frontier-era...

Sometimes mine flickers at startup, just barely. It doesn't stay on for even a second. Oil level is fine, oil is clean. No worries.

My 5-speed just revs too darn high on the highway to break 30 mpg. I get a rather consistent 25-28 in mixed driving though.

Similar problem. Lexus-smooth idle, smooth delivery under normal driving but when I dig in, I feel a rhythmic power surging, especially in the midrange.

I brought it back there before I realized that...

I brought it back there before I realized that the noise went away when the brakes were applied. They ended up shortening the mounting screws on my rear license plate, installing new wiper blades...
