I've got a better suggestion which is lots cheaper. Get a scrap front suspension and fit it in place of the rear, with the steering wheel in the trunk. Put the car in reverse and sit in the trunk to steer.
Or . . . you could fit a second engine in the trunk as well, then you'd have AWD.
RWD SUCKS! When Alec Issigonis invented the Mini he knew what he was doing. It ran rings around any RWD car, even on its 10" wheels and rubber suspension.

look just go buy a 350z and be happy forever with your firewall intact and yea yea its ALOT more money but you'll also be happy ALOT for a long time... Plus a 350z is tuned for RWD and runs it quite nicely, your other options are of course 240's, a G35 or if your absolutley insane and have a lot of money a skyline but I dont think thats worth it really. anyways later

If you are talking about the GT-R I never knew they had one. All I know is that the GTS has a RWD but nothing else. Lets save money and work on boosting our cars to be twin turbo... Yeah RWD max is like throwing money down toilets.

Actually the closest thing to a RWD Maxima is available. It is not as nice looking of a car in my opinion, but it is the J30 Infinity. Check it out.

Why do people always talk about making a rwd max? it's pobably cheaper to body/interior swap with a j30. then you have your rwd AND it looks like a maxima

my neighbor has a '97 J30 and I can run all over that thing but its an auto so my argument is already contradictory in nature. But these guys have a point, but once again dude the J30 was more than the 300zx new so what is really the right answer here, simply put there isn't one. So as arnold might say "shut up with RWD maxima."

have fun and just drive man

Maybe a ruinned 300zx(accidented) and all the necessary parts are ok, maybe we can make it fit. A rear wheel drive Max would be tooo sick. You'll see me at drift mania with a huge MAXIMA.ORG decal on my rear windsheild and a big smiley face next to it. It would drive the way it's meant to feel. I love rear wheel drive cars and always wished the max was.
For differences between a front wheel and a rear wheel drive is like night and day. The car would feel more balanced. Maybe a slight loss in power due to the differential, but with 2 turbos or even just one, who the hell cares. You have a forced induction, rear wheel drive Maxima. Maybe if it works, they can make a kit for it. The 4th and 5th gen max's should be the same underneath, so it would probably work on both if it works on one. I promise if this would work out, you guys will hear about it.
HAHAHAHAHHA...hey guy there is no p/n. or kit...get out your welder and go to the metal shop and boneyard.....theres your kit...

I think a 'ruined' R32/33/34 Skyline may be better suited for the rear end set up (as the cars are the same basic widths and such...
