I need to take out the electrical connector/harness for alternator (the ones to S/L) and also, the ones to the fans.

I was told to identify the obvious alternator...

I was told to identify the obvious alternator issue: start the car with battery connected.

Then disconnect the battery and see if the engine still runs - if yes, then it is not the alternator...
