Need Mounts!

My 2003 6speed needs the mounts replaced. When moving back and fourth slowly I can feel/see the engine rock pretty good. Also when I am driving if I let my foot off the acccelerator the car jerks pretty bad. What should I replace them with? I was thinking OEM, but my car only has 52k miles on it now. I do race my car on occasion, so I don't know if the OEM is good enough. Please help with any advice or what you guys have done. Thanks.

Yeah I would like to know if there is a better aftermarket or is stock good enough...I have the same problem i even see my shifter slighty move in 1st through 3 when i step on it or take my foot off, i think it's the rear mount....

The Place Racing motor mounts work really well. They reduce wheel hop and make the shifts feel crisper when engaging the clutch. They're solid eurethane and not liquid filled so there is nothing to break.

The only down side is that they pass a little more vibration into the cabin. It's really only noticeable at idle.

Energy Suspension polyurethane inserts work well too.

Here's one thread on how to install them:

And here's more general info:

For more information and opinions, just do a search for "motor mounts" because many people have done this.

this is all you need.

it even has the .pdf instruction sheet. it's a pretty simple process, and there are a ton of threads on it so if you have any questions, they've probably already been answered.

That gives me some good ideas. Thanks for all your info. How bad is the vibration at idle with the Energy replacements?? I have a friend that changed his mounts in his SRT-4 and it caused a vibration that wasn't there before, but it was able to be tollerated.

that's exactly what the ES mounts will do in your max. but the vibration is only when idleing and it's not that bad. the vibration is only a minor side effect to an awesome set of mounts. your car will be more responsive to the throttle and it will stay grounded better, if you ever decide to really get on it. definitely worth it. I'll switch them in any car i have to a solid poly mount from now on.

I think its all personal preference. To me, it is definitely not uncomfortable or annoying, but you will notice it.

Im sure i've got the same problem... I can feel a slight jerk also when taking off from a stop sometimes. Is it engine mounts or has anyone had tranny mounts go bad also??
