I think you're looking at the y-pipe that is sold with our headers. That y-pipe can only be used with our headers (and vice versa). Since the header outlets - where the y-pipe bolts on - are in completely different locations than the stock manifold outlets, they require a purpose-built y-pipe. The header y-pipe also has other features (equal length downpipes, a larger diameter tail section, etc.) we haven't included in "stand-alone" y-pipes, but are essential for the performance and sound of our header system.

Also worth noting that stand-alone y-pipes make less power on the VQ35DE motor (7-8whp) than they do on the VQ30DE (11-13whp), due (IMHO) to two factors - 1) when the VQ30DE y-pipe is removed, one or both precats also come off (depending on emissions type), and 2) the stock y-pipe on the VQ35DE flows better than earlier Federal and CA/NLEV Y's on the VQ30DE, so the gap between stock and performance versions is smaller.

Fortunately, the opposite is true with our header/y-pipe system, which makes more power on the VQ35DE than on both versions of the VQ30DE motor, rather than less. Due to the really large gap between the performance of stand-alone y-pipes (7-8whp on the VQ35DE) and header/y-pipe systems (22-25whp on the VQ35DE) we weren't selling many y-pipes, despite the big difference in price (OTOH, header hp is cheaper "per whp", costing $35/each, while each y-pipe whp is $10 more @ $45). We'll be putting the 95-01 y-pipes back into production soon, but probably not the 02/03 version.

SAFC to make them work properly? My friend, you've been the victim of bad advice, who told you that anyway? [PM me if you don't want to say publicly.]

I'd be surprised if 10% of our customers use piggyback fuel tuning with the headers, and I don't either. Like any effective performance mod, a good SAFC-type setup will make more power, but its certainly not required to get +22-25whp results from a VQ35DE with the Cattman headers. The stock ECU has no problem adapting to, and making power with our header/y-pipe system.

By the time you get a SAFC on the car and properly tuned, you'd probably spend more than the headers cost, so you see, I've just halved the bottom line. You can afford them after all! ;-)

Thanks for the headers Brian. They look great. Can't wait to have them installed!

Also, about the tuning. I was talking to somebody at firestone, and they were telling me that buying a piggyback fuel tuning system is not necessary because when you take it to a shop to have the car dynoed, they can adjust the air/fuel ratio right there with their machine to make maximum horsepower. Is that true?

I'm not a mechanic, but I don't believe that its possible to tune air/fuel from the ECU. Does anyone have different information?

A lot of the website prices are not current, but typically they're too low. The regular retail price for this RSB is $149.99, but its on sale this month for $129.99 + shipping. Give us a call, its a heck of a part for a great price.

Yes, Chris, those are all the ES suspension bushings for the 95-99 Maxima. The price is still $49.99 and we have all three sets in stock.

Note that this doesn't include the motor mount or lower front subframe bushings; they're not a part of this package because they are not suspension-related. I'm not sure where you're located, but shipping is pretty reasonable.

Chris,

I noticed in your sig that you're waiting for a MAF adapter. Are you aware that we sell a beautiful billet aluminum MAF adapter for $45? Even the 4 bolt holes are threaded. Plenty in stock, just let us know.

That rather complicated part went out of production a couple years ago when we lost out supplier of affordable titanium tubing AND the company making them changed hands (new owners not interested in car parts). The 89-94 version is the only one left in stock, which is unfortunate since the version for the 02/03 Max was the only FSTB I know of that didn't get caught between the intake manifold and the hood (ours angled back so it was behind the intake manifold instead of above it).

The only "tuning" thing that I know of that people can do "for free" i.e. with no extra module, is advance the timing. It is impossible to modify fuel maps without installing a piggyback/SAFC, etc.

– Energy Suspension Motor Mount Bushing, rear only (1 bushing) for 95-03 Maximas/I30s/I35s with auto transmissions. NOT inserts, they replace the entire stock bushing; reg. $60, only $45.99.

Hey Brian, looking for both front & rear, do you have any front that are electronic?

No, ES doesn't make one for the larger 4" diameter hole in the electro-mount (the ES bushing fits a 3.5" hole). In most automatics just the front mount is electro, and a single ES bushing in the rear works surprisingly well, but some of the 00-01 Maximas have electro-mounts front and rear. I hear its possible to use non-electro-mounts (w/ the ES bushing) from a manual tranny instead.

Hey Brian, thanks for the Progress rsb! My friends and I just installed it last night. Haven't had much of a chance to test it out yet, but so far it feels great! Body roll has been reduced so much. I'm very happy with my purchase

Brian,

I have a completely stock 2002 i35.
What are the dyno results for the 3" catback and the 2.5" catback systems?
Are both of these kits direct bolt-up or do I have to modify any body components on the car?
What would my total cost be for the 3" system w/ resonator & o2 sensor ports?
Are installation kits included?
Shipping to 76133?

And I would flip for a Catmann Ti FSTB!!!!!!!!

James
