It's likely the disconnect that's acting up and was likely supplying a bit of power that slowly drained, my mom has a van that gets driven 5 times a year max and it has the screw-in style disconnect...

Haynes manuals for them are still floating around on Ebay and other places, it would cover '85-'91 which is all years of 2nd gen and first 3 years of 3rd gen

As said you cannot just plug the hoses, you would need to get a brass pipe from a hardware store and some hose clamps and loop the 2 heater core lines together in a loop to bypass the heatercore

If its the orange Sylvania i've used them on older vehicles with a flasher before but had to use 4 of them, 2 on the front and 2 on the rear. Did you only put 2 on the rear?

valve guide seals or valve stem seals? IIRC the stem seals can be done with the head on as long as you prevent the valve from dropping in the engine but guide seals you're gonna be pulling the heads...

Check battery connections and the connections to the alternator as well as the alternator fuse, but especially if it was a reman alternator there's a chance it could be bad out of the box

I think you can technically reboot them but unless you catch it early, if grit and sand got in there already re-booting isn't the best and its better to replace. Same as CV axles, unless you catch it...
