knock sensor harness

I pulled the knock sensor harness to inspect it and I found the male 2 pin distal end has 2 wires connected but the wire is taped down to a single wire that goes to the proximal 2 pin female side...

I just went through the trouble to replace the fuel level sender and rewire new harness connectors to the flow level and the pump itself.

I put it all back together and the engine cranks but...
