Duct tape at its finest

i wanted to brighten up my engine bay so when i pop the hood i am a little more proud. i was in wally world and came across the duct tape section and saw at least 6 different colors and patterns. the bright pink zebra pattern stood out the most so i grabbed the 4$ roll of tape and ran home. if anybody else has already made a thread like this i apologize.

I agree with others...clean your engine bay...then that 'pink tape' will really shine.

Original but a little too far on the female side for me.

I wonder how the duct tape will hold with the heat.

I think it makes the dirt and grime more noticeable. You gotta clean that bay big time.

What's a good general purpose degreaser for the bay sides, UIM Timing Chain cover etc.? I heard once that brake cleaner can be used? but that seems harsh for some of the more delicate rubber parts.

Any engine degreaser that could be bought at an auto parts store would be fine.

within the next few days i will get on cleaning the bay up then post some fresh pictures. i know its dirty but i was just trying to show what a 4$ roll of duct tape can do to a boring looking motor. The glue is on my mind as well, not the strut bar and intake but the coil pack cover.

it has been done many times (engine cleaning). I have used acid to clean my engine bay. Also, the industrial purple from home depot is very strong and gets it clean. I have used the GUNK products from autozone to degrease the engine.

Whatever you use, make sure you don't wet the alternator. They don't like water in them for some reason . Seriously though, cover it up.

I wouldn't direct water on the battery either. Everything else should be fair game.

Get a small brush to get to all the tight spots.

Rinse the bad with engine off and cool.

Apply degreaser. Let soak for 5-10 minutes.

Apply some more degreaser and hit it up with the brush.

Rinse thoroughly.

Repeat if needed.

I think you should just leave the engine bay dirty as ****. Makes the tranny look great and no one will ever notice the bay with that super estrogen-high pink tape. Cool

why not just spray black plasti dip all over it.

- covers the dirt.
- REALLY makes the pink stand out.

also, not picking on the noobs. There are countless threads getting posted in the wrong sections, for the last few days, a few others and myself have been trying to let the noobs know that they are putting threads in the wrong places
