Is this scoring on the lower porcelain indicative of too lightly torquing the plug in or more likely a coil issue? It came out of the #2 cylinder (front left), the others all normal.

the preferred plug for the 4th generation Maxima is NGK 2647 previously referred to as PFR5G11. They are available in Ottawa Canada at CAPS for $12CN, so with the exchange, just get someone to ship...

when the 4th gens were relatively new, PFR56 plugs by NGK were considered mandatory albeit very expensive. Is it ok now to go with iridiums or something cheaper?

if you're idle revs are high, turn the ecu screw to the right of the gas pedal. should be around 600 when the engine is warmed up.

what about the other theory, that too much oil is likely to cause oil to be burnt with the gas and eventually fowling the cat. Other theory about seals and foaming are valid, why push it.

Hood Replacement Washer

Swapping out old hood, it must be simplest to disconnect the washer hose from the pump and pull it out. I cannot find a graphic so need to know where the clasps are, any tricks to getting this done...
