Am in the process of buying a newer Maxima. Looking at a 2004, pre emissions and safety, the engine light will not go off with a battery reset and his mechanics have scanned saying nothing shows up ? I checked all the under-the-dash fuses. What could this be???

Have you tried the ECU reset?

As I thought was very clear, every possible kind of reset has been attempted. The ECU shows NO errant codes BUT will NOT RESET.

something is making contact to ground to keep the bulb on, that's the only scenario i can think of
