Re: Checking in from Yellowstone

Thanks, I've done some things that probably added to the longevity, including upgrading to a turbo oil pump after 300K miles and running it on synthetic 20-50 since 170K.

We arrived home in So....

Checking in from Yellowstone, WY

For our vacation this year, we decided to drive to Yellowstone from Orange County, CA, and then visit family in Anacortes and Bellingham, WA before stopping in SF and driving home down I-5. It's a...

84 Maxima

Thanks.

Captain,

I replied to your message on the Maxima forum. I think 205s will work with ET25 if you roll the fenders. They don't hit the fender lip with ET30, but then I shaved off the...

2nd Gen Max Fast for Its Day

I remember in 1985 when the 2nd Gen came out. Very sharp looking car, And the VG30 made for some nice top speed. My brother was an intern at Road & Track at the time, didn't pay much but it was the...

Captain,

I recently installed 17x7" ET 38 wheels on my '84 Maxima, using 205/50-17 Yokohama AD08Rs, and I have 3mm of space between the sidewall and strut. I can get away with this without rubbing...

Update on rear springs for 1st Gen Max

I finally got around to installing the Moog CC233 springs on the rear. They work well with the KYB Gas-adjust shocks I've got on the rear (which have about 30K miles on them now). They ARE different...

Re: Offset

0 offset is too extreme for me since I'm using 205s. I believe the stock wheels are +35, and I'm running +30 with my current 84 300ZX wheels to minimize rubbing on the front (it doesn't rub on the...

Offset?

I like it. It gives me ideas for my daily driver, as I'm still kicking around wheel possibilities for it. What offset, rim width and tire size are you using? What type and brand are those wheels?...

Still need diagrams?

I realize this is late, especially for BigDud, but I've installed CD/DVD players in both of mine, using existing harnesses for one of them. I even integrated the still-working tape deck with the new...

~403,500 on my '84 Maxima Sedan

Original engine, runs strong, uses about 1 qt. of oil every 6000 miles if driven normally. If driven flat-out, maybe 3000 to 3500 to add a quart. I drove the car without a dash for like 6 months...

Almost Perfect Maxima?

The only less-than-perfect item I see on your car is the small dent on the rear fender. Anything else on the car? Is the dash cracked at all? How's the sun damage on the rear seat?

I don't...

Jccs 2013

Anyone attend JCCS on the 28th? Lots of Cressidas, the usual 510's, Z's, and endless iterations of Hondas, but only two Maximas (mine). There was a black Toyota Crown that got a lot of face time, and...

Moog lists rear springs for your Max

I just purchase a pair of Moog CC233 rear springs for my '84 Max. I'll let you know how they work when I install them.

Take it to the Japanese Classic Car Show next year

Very nice 1st Gen. Keep it if you're willing to invest the time, and take it to the JCCS next year. I have two of them and mine were the only Maximas there this year. You've got an excellent example...

Save the 1st Gens! Take yours to JCCS

I've entered my two -- an 83 with 160K on it and an 84 with 400K.

As the only Maxima you could ever drift and the only Maxima that used old-school Datsun/Nissan parts, it's a pity the 1st gens...
