Offset?
I like it. It gives me ideas for my daily driver, as I'm still kicking around wheel possibilities for it. What offset, rim width and tire size are you using? What type and brand are those wheels? I'm curious to see how the fender rolling will work out.

Thanks! They are 15x7 0 offset rota shakotans. Tires are 195/55s, I wanted 175/55 but supposably they weren't available, which i call b.s.. I am hoping that there will be camber on the car when i lower it because the tires do rub sometimes even though the fenders are rolled, due to tire specs.

Re: Offset
0 offset is too extreme for me since I'm using 205s. I believe the stock wheels are +35, and I'm running +30 with my current 84 300ZX wheels to minimize rubbing on the front (it doesn't rub on the rear).
I don't think that lowering will help you with the rubbing, as the rear suspension moves the same way when you reduce the spring height or hit a bump. If you want to dial in more camber at a given suspension position (like just before the tire hits the fenders) you need to use camber bushings or slot the semitrailing arm pivot mounts (I've been told the last one isn't easily reversible). Best bet I think would be to use 175s. I saw two different 175/55-15 tires listed on TireRack.

Captain,
I recently installed 17x7" ET 38 wheels on my '84 Maxima, using 205/50-17 Yokohama AD08Rs, and I have 3mm of space between the sidewall and strut. I can get away with this without rubbing on the strut (I get some rubbing on the fender liners with maximum effort cornering) because this arrangement yields an absolutely flat sidewall, and the AD08Rs have steel sidewall stiffeners.
I imagine if you use 17x7" or 17x7.5 ET30 wheels with 215/45 tires, things should fit if you roll the fenders. Of course, to my knowledge there are no off-the-shelf wheels with 30mm offset available, so unless you get lucky on some used wheels or use spacers, you will have to pay $1300-2000 or more for custom drilled and machined offset wheels. Spacers are a problem, because the stock wheel studs are only 32mm long on the front and 40mm on the rear.
See photo for results. That photo was taken before I replaced the tired rear springs with Moog CC233's, which popped the rear end up a couple of inches.

84 Maxima
Thanks.
Captain,
I replied to your message on the Maxima forum. I think 205s will work with ET25 if you roll the fenders. They don't hit the fender lip with ET30, but then I shaved off the protrusion around the mounting hole for the fender trim. Go for 205 55/16s. Lots of good rubber available in that size. Staggered works well on properly-tuned RWD Maximas. I wear the tires pretty evenly front to rear on my '83, and don't bother to rotate them.

Nice car. Are they all tan? Geez. Mine, yours and caradana all have tan cars. The market is not there for these cars yet. Once someone makes a killer one with a turbo on it or does something really wild then people will jump on them.

I never saw this thread originally but looking at the old pictures now it's kind of funny, because my brother has a '79 CVCC in that exact same bronze color too. And his also came from California and has that exact old style blue California license plate. Pretty funny for a split second I thought it was his car.
