Want to be Maxima of the Month? Here's your chance

So there has been some interest in bring back Maxima of the Month (MOTM).
In true sprit of Maxima.org let's see your rides.

PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE POST AND FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS. (i'm sorry that it's long but please take the time to read it all)

Here are the guidelines....
- This is open to all generations to members that are in good standing..(no banned members)
- ONE post per member, per 3 month cycle...i don't want to see one person posting 50 cars they see on the forum and say they want to pick them so choose wisely.
- Please if you're going to pick someone's car other than yours, please make sure you have their permission.
- Please DO NOT post any additional comments this thread is STRICTLY for MOTM cars/nominations. I don't want to see someone post their car and have 20 people make comments on it.
- If we don't pick your car this month we might pick it the next month so don't be discourage.
- NO EBAY pics/cars. I'm going to let this roll on a trial basis...if you guys are posting pimp my ride car pics or something stupid on ebay then this is gone. Don't ruin it for the rest of the community!!!

Here's what you post in this thread...

- List the year of your car
- List your location (state/country) is fine
- Contact info - email or PM? - we need to contact you if we pick you.
- Mods you have made, if any or things you have done to it (i'm not talking about oil changes and filling it up with gas).
- 50 words or less why you feel "this" car should be MOTM. Because i think it's cool won't do it. Tell us something about it...why it should be picked out of all the other Maximas on the forum. Perhaps a small story about how you got the car or how you work on it..etc. Don't have to be Shakespeare but please use proper English.
- Most important part!!! - post pictures...please no cell phone camera pics. let's see the shine here. Borrow a friend's camera if you have to...host the picture on a site (photobucket or similar) and link it to the thread. Please no more than 4 pictures. A good mix would be front, rear quarter, engine, and interior. Just give us a good idea what you have going on there. If you get picked we might request additional pics from you so be ready.

Failure to follow directions will cause your post to be deleted or your nomination rejected. I don't want to hear the complaints. You have been warned. Rules are subject to change as this is on a trial basis

As always...have fun.
Dan

~ Why MOTM?

Well it's hard to say. There are a ton of great cars out there! But really the reason why I feel that I should be chosen as MOTM is not only does my car mean so much to me but so does the Max.org community.

I have met many people from .org that are more than just " car modders / enthusiasts", but also great friends. And I really believe that my car shows all of that. Without the knowledge gained and the hard work of others and myself. I doubt "Max" would look as good as she does now!

- PixX

What she was...August of 2006 (99.9% Stock)

What she has become... September of 2007 (75% Finished)

Rear Quarter...

Engine Bay...Not Stock mkay!?

Thanks for reading and I know whoever is chosen for MOTM really deserves it!

I think I should be considered for MOTM because there aren't many modified 3rd gens left on the org. Most of the nominees for MOTM will be 4th, 5th, and 6th gens. I've been here since 2003 and I am only the second owner of the car. It's garage kept and I maintain it very well. I know it's only a VG auto, but I try to keep it clean and subtle. I've witnessed a lot of 3rd gen owners on here sell their cars and move on to new things, but I've held on to mine and continue to mod it.

My name is Warren, I'm 60 and retired from the communications industry. I was in the market for a new car when I retired but wanted one with modification potential. My ride had to be capable of being a comfortable daily driver and putting up with my free time making road trips to visit car shows, family and friends throughout the eastern seaboard. My road trips normally originate from my home in Brooklyn, New York to shows and meets throughout New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Maryland, Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia to as far South as Miami, Florida.

I been a member of this org. for awhile and have meet alot of great people who have gave me advise on my car and life.

When home, I roll with a Nissan Maxima car club called NYCMAXIMAS, our club has over 1000 members and we generally get together throughout the year at the many meets and fundraisers our club continually supports. During the colder months, most members stay in touch through our website at NYCMaximas.org to swap stories, ideas or assist other members with problems or modifications. Most members know I am older and sometimes refer to me as Grandpa, but that's because I have 14 grandchildren and not the fact that most of the youth of our club are old enough to be my children or grandkids.

Most car enthusiast know I am capable of putting in the same hard work and passion into my ride, however I always take the time to listen as well as give advice which has earned me lot's of respect amongst my car club and at shows. Overall, this is truly a passion of mine and one of the best kept secrets for bridging the age gap with today's youth and have fun at the same time.

Working with friends, we put alot of time and effort to get the car looking at its best. Everyone has ideas on what to do with their rides and these are ideas that I have found that work for my ride.

Thanks for looking.

1. 98 SE
2. Well I live in Raleigh, NC as a student at NC State.
3. PM is fine

Well Id like to nominate my car mostly bc of how far it has come..

Day 1

Ive spent over 2 years modding it all on my own budget without the help of my parents (including the purchase of the car.) As a college student this has been very hard but as you can see, I try to not to cut corners with the quality of the mods I select. I bought a maxima because Mad-Max_SE (an OG and good friend of mine) got me excited about them 3 years ago. Its everything I want in a car right now. IMO its stylish, semi-sleeper, has some decent power, and room to haul all my stuff around. The idea of a sleeper, or at least something that is unexpecting is very appealing to me. Im not going to be the guy to claim that my open-diff, FWD sedan spanks Z, Evos, and Vettes bc thats not what modding is about. Its about appreciating your car for what it is and respecting others and their cars as well.

I love my Maxima... been through alot with it, beaten up on it, and it just keeps going. Only problem ive ever had was replacing a wheel bearing.. its been that reliable. Only plans remaining are a 3.5 with a good tune. Thanks for looking you guys.

Already have a Turbonetics T3/T4 Super 60 .63 a/r turbo polished with the blue back plating, hks ssq bov, just looking for a proper sized front mount intercooler.

Hello, I am Chris, I purchased the maxima back in 2004, and since then it has progressed slowly albeit it. I just graduated from high school in June 07’, since then I have really started to get the mod bug. My friends think I am crazy, always working, but I never have money, I tell them its because every dollar I make goes to my car. During high school I was working 30 hours a week just to afford insurance and car payments. I guess unlike most car enthusiasts I have personally installed every single mod/item on the car myself, with the exception of the transaxle rebuild. I really love my maxima, everything about it, and every time I drive it, it brings a smile to my face! Hard to keep it under 50words but I tried

Sorry camera phone pic, but i think its pretty good pic of the car.

Back in 04 when i bought it. Monster truck ride height FTL!

Thanks for lookin!

Thanks guys! As far as I know, the other thread with the poll where the 5th gen won is entirely separate from anything in this thread. It was an idea that didn't work out which is why it was locked. This thread is the official thread and all gens are eligible, not just 5th. Good luck to everybody for next month!

I think my car could be Maxima of the month because of the special/rare/custom modifications I and others have added to my car. I may not have a blower or custom paint, but at this point I think my car is very unique and is very close to a "perfect" 4th gen. It has a great powerband, supple yet aggressive suspension, and tasteful mods inside and out. I placed a star next to the mods I feel are unique to my car. Thanks for reading.
Go to my CarDomain page for the progress on the car since 2003...

Oh, and one more thing. This car wouldn't be where it is without this website and the great people on here. I'm thankful I've met so many generous people through this site who have helped me with my car.

BTW, the car now has a 35% tint again, it's missing it in most of these pics.

When I received the car, after a bath and a GXE rim swap:

Why I am nominating myself for MOTM:

By the time I was entering kindergarten I already had a fascination with cars. In 1995, at five years old, I remember going with my dad up to the Nissan dealership to test drive a Black Emerald Green 1994 VG Automatic. Ever since then, and the purchase slightly after the test drive, I've always loved Maxima's. Growing up with the car I have a lot of cheesy memories of listening to music in it with my sister, taking road trips, and among other things; helping my dad perform routine maintenance.

It was then I realized I wanted a maxima too, despite the two transmission rebuilds it had already undergone by my sixteenth birthday. Though at sixteen, I was handed down the maxima. After driving and bonding with it I decided I needed more, so I found maxima.org. After learning as much as I could, swapping idea's, fixing up my maxima, and tinkering here and there. I decided the best bet for me was to find a good condition 3rd gen SE and mod that since it had the platform I wanted.

I found my 1993 SE for $2,200 in January of 2007. I had a job at the time and worked hard to pay it off by myself. Since then, 60% or more of all of my earnings have been put towards my car and countless hours have been spent working and learning. The car has come a long way in a year with under $3,000 of total investment. Being cheap and tastefully modding a car has been one of the hardest jobs to do this far, but I never cut corners, and my car has only been near a shop if it's needed exhaust welding. I realized after all the parts I ended up buying for the max, it may be cheaper and more efficient to find a parts car, so that's exactly what I bought. A Gold 1994 SE with 5-spd conversion in which I am in the midst of swapping to my car. Including a short throw shifter and ACT Stage 1 Clutch. I am confident enough to say I was the only person in my neighborhood to be obsessed enough to have three third gens parked in their standard 2 lot yard.

It is almost my one year anniversary with the car and would be an honor to be maxima of the month on the one website I put before my family... heh, Just kidding, but close. Anyway, here are some current pictures of the car.

I've been working hard on customizing my Maxima since I was 15 (before I had a license)! It would mean so much to get the Maxima of the Month because a lot of hard-earned, minimum-wage paychecks have been saved up and spent on mods over the years! Thanks for looking!

I nominate myself.

1.) 1998 Sage Mist GXE
2.) Peoria, AZ
3.) PM me!
4.) Current mods:
-Clear corners
-Red/clears

That's it....for now.

I nominate myself because I received my car by chance. It was my brother's, and he almost sold it after he got his '99 SE-L. But somehow it was offered to me! I've had it for a year and a half, and this car is my pride and joy. I know it doesn't have much done to it, but I don't have the money right now. I know people look at it and think "Oh, those rims are hideous." Or, "Must be another old fart drivin' that Maxima." Wrong. I like to show off my car! It's not a common color, and it's also not common to see a Maxima even remotely modded in my area. Even being kind of a newbie...I still think I can get some recognition!

ENJOY!

Why MOTM?

My car isn’t very flashy…by design. I wanted to simply enhance the beautiful clean lines of the 5th gen. Its all blacked out and modded to look subtle but have unseen performance improvements. The car was modified to improve daily driving as well as auto-crossing. All mods were performed myself with the help of my wife and friends in DC: Josh, (Irish44j), Joel (Puppetmaster), and Jason (cutler). I would like to see a car modded in this fashion be the MOTM, so I’m nominating myself.

Okay ill nominate myself (PLEASE DON'T TAKE THIS AS A JOKE IM SERIOUS).. with that on the side here we go

Name: Louis C.
Car: 1996 Nissan Maxima
Location: St. Paul MN/Lombard IL
Email: ashpakalat@yahoo.com

Mods:
Enkei wheels
Dents
Scrapes
Sometimes snow/rain

Why MOTM?

This is my Maxima, it's broken and beautiful. Yes, there are numerous Maximas in the community that are examples of beauty, love and devotion. Many of them with upgraded suspension, body kits, expensive wheels, performance upgrades and many more. I commend you guys and give my reverence, but I would like to take people back to the gritty reality. My Maxima might not be showroom quality but it is beautiful. Beautiful in a sense that it has made countless six hour trips, through rough weather conditions. There were even instances when my Max made those trips with bad coil packs. I drive my Max daily and she never failed me, nor has she ever complained about the weather. Through snow, fog, rain or a combination of the three, my Max, like all our Maxs, they perform. Truly the reason I want to become Max Of the Month, is because I want to represent the people who do not have much mods in their cars, but love them just as much. I represent those who use their Max as road and highway warriors and as family servants. My Max cannot be MOTM because it has awesome finish, nor a body kit, nor suspensions and not even because it has engine mods. My Max can be MOTM because it epitomizes what all our Maximas can do with our all the glamor. My Maxima, broken but beautiful.

Thanks

here are some pics

I wanna nominate myself...

Year/Model: 2000 Maxima GLE

If I would've known that I was going modify my max I should've bought GXE but No regret at all. I've been on Maxima.org for so long, and also been away for so long...Ever since I blew transmission I kinda lost love for this car because it was costing so much money for me that I almost thought about trading it in...but as a proud maxima owner I couldn't get rid of this car, that was reason I haven't been on org. I see lots of modded Maximas in my area more than before so my love for my max was growing bigger and I decided to reshape my Maxima. I think my maxima deserves MOTM so it'll encourage me to make best out of my Max.

I have received emails and PM's urging me to try for MOTM so here goes
90 SE
Madison, WI
jonmandude@yahoo.com
super clean and straight

I have been building this car for three years now. she is what made me find the .org. I started building without any knowledge of the .org or much of the internet. I just liked the car and had not seen any modded Maxima's. I started with the simple (suspension) and moved on from there (R33 tails). It never ends. I still want to build the engine up more (Sc?). There are so many beautiful Maxima's on the .org and I think mine now ranks up there with them.

Suspension:
Sprint springs (1.8")
KYB struts (Konis to come)
Blehmco Stage 2 LTB
Blehmco RSTB
Blehmco rear links
Addco RSB
ST FSB
Megan Racing FSTB
WSP SFC's

Brakes:
Brembo cross-drilled/slotted rotors
Goodridge SS lines
Satisfied carbon/ceramic pads
Castrol SRF fluid (this stuff is amazing)

Engine:
JDM 300ZX VG30E
Unorthodox underdrive pulley
fiber plenum spacers
WSP CAI
WSP 2.5" exhaust
Magnaflow Cat and muffler
ported and polished heads

Body:
Fiber Images CF hood
JSP America CF wing
E36 headlight conversion
R33 taillight conversion
No body kit because I don't think it needs one

Wheels/tires:
Koya Stryker 18x8 powder-coated white
General Exclain UHP 235/40

I have tried three times to load pictures and I keep getting a "not authorized" window..WTF?

see the car at

To this day, it has 329,000kms and still runs strong. I believe this should be in the running for Maxima Of The Month because ive covered pretty much all aspects. I wanted this car to be an all around car, not just looks good. I wanted some show with lots of go. I recieved the car bone stock, and the modding bug bit me. Worked 30 hours a week while in high school just to afford insurence/gas/mods.

Picture time:

Thanks for lookin!

In a world of massive chrome wheels, loud exhausts, and rattling trunks my Maxima proves that you dont have to be flashy in order to be seen and respected from individuals within the car modding community and individuals who aren't. The mods done to my car have an OEM finish and classy appeal emphasising on the sporty/luxury flavor. I have been on the ORG for several years and my Maxima reflects that from my choice of leaving the stock airbox inside my engine bay, down to the red/clear tail lamps.

I bought the car back in 2002 at an auction for $9,700. Once I saw it rolling down the cue, i knew that I had to have it. From that moment, I cant resist looking at my car a second time whenever i leave it. My Maxima has been very good to me. The engine has been smooth and reliable since day one of my ownership.

One of my most proudest moments was when I performed my first TSX lowbeam retrofit and when I was the first 4th gen Maxima to utilize the 13'' Cobra rotor/Q45 caliper setup thanks to Jeff, Redmax, and DA-MAX. My brake setup has proven to others that the Cobra/Q45 is very possible and is the most bang-per-buck brake upgrade one can perform.

I dont have the fastest Maxima or the best sounding one, but I do think i have one of the most sleekest daily drivers around. Turning the ignition and driving it daily remains one of my simple pleasures in life.

PM is fine

It yet remains pretty stock. Simple mods were performed and mostly are on electrical parts.
Headlight HID with shields;
LED fog light;
Clear corner and turning lights all with yellow bulbs;
LED mods on gauge cluster, auto climate control unit, auto gear selector, dome light, map light, courtesy lights, license lights, backup light and LED strips in trunk;
Strobe lights on rear window.

After I had a head on by a DUI and totaled my 97 Maxima last June, I bought this 98 maxima in a month in memory of my previous love plus I like the slick looking and performance of 4th gen Maxima. .Link to totaled Max: http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...ht-my-max.html

I guess it's about time I enter this as I am pretty much done with this car. For as long as I've been on the org, I've enjoyed the benefits of sharing information with other members and also the comradarie that has grown. I have put many hours and much blood, sweat and cursing into this car as all the parts I've installed myself. It's just the satisfaction of doing the install and the end result you get that makes it that much better. I have gotten many compliments from fellow org-ers, friends, and random people on the road. I'm pretty satsified with what has become of this daily driver.

This car was passed down to me by my mom and ever since i got it, i have been hooked to it. I have gone through many trials and tribulation from this car. I learned a lot, had many fun experiences with it and bad times as well.
Every summer, would make a mod list and try to meet my goals. I think i have a unique maxima b/c of all the minor custom work i have done. I think its a very respectable four door saloon car that carries groceries, seats 4 adults, and is decently quick for a NA car. That is why i think i should be MOTM.

I see there are a lot of nice Maximas on this site, and I just want to participate and see if my car will be chosen the MOTM. As I know I did invest a lot of time & effort to make my car look good and unique.

Well, I'm going to post my car for MOTM consideration, considering I am nearing the point where I start to part it out and look for a new ride. Why would I think my maxima is MOTM material? It's driven me 150,000 miles through 18" deep snow, potholed highways, and mountain roads. It's competed in dozens of motorsports competitions. It's hauled over 300lbs of lumber on the roof. It's carried bikes, skis, kayaks, and even a loveseat up top! It brought my new daughter home from the hospital. It has at once been a sportscar, a luxury sedan, a utility vehicle, a track car, and a daily beater. It's been a good car and (I think) has inspired some people here on the org over the years at least....

Since I have no say in picking MOTM, I don't know if it matters that I'm a moderator here anyhow!
