One way to check is to jack up that corner of the car & try to wobble the wheel/tire both side to side & up & down...there should be no free play.

My dealer has diagnosed that as my problem but wants to charge 2 hours labor plus parts to change it.

I may be way off base here, but I once had a vehicle that sounded just like that...come to find out, it was a bad wheel bearing.

I use it once a year before waxing...the other time or two I will wax, I just put new wax on top of old. Never had any problems...
