There is a retainer on the end that you need to snap into place. If it's an aftermarket axle it can be difficult. Shove it in there like you mean it.

It will work fine. The speed is based on the signal from the speed sensor, which are all the same. VE gauge itself is what's different. VG gauge will still be accurate.
