You should, but you'll go right by the fuse panel to get to it. Passport sells a hardwire kit, although you can make one out of a standard phone cord you get at Walmart for much cheaper.

No, you can't do it w/o removing the panels again.
To check for polarity problems, you have to reverse the connections and see which one sounds better.
