Your better off getting another transmission. Or if your familiar with this taransmission ( i am) you can open the gear case, check the gear itself, you need to remove the gear tower for 5th gear....

Have you checked your timing belt? sounds like it may have snapped . If if so, your valves got vent since u cranked it alot of times.

If you have the belt correctly installed and turn the crank its normal, but if you dont have the belt DONT start it and align it right. Bent valves suck. How does your engine run after overheating??...

Oh yeah the transmission IS the same as in bellhouseng and all, its just the shift rod, still they both can be adapted so u can use either one. Just clreaing up that I did have trouble with the rod's...
