I thought I noticed a little more out of each gear ... now my engine revs to the redline before shifting into the next gear. I wonder if its true or just placebo effect.

I cleaned around the coil packs and I'll keep an eye on this. If there is in fact a leak, I'll see fresh oil there. Maybe my mechanic did simply spill some.

No, I don't. I'm adding 1-2 qts between the 3000 mile oil change that my garage does. The oil that I found at the bottom of the car is fresh. :(
