I wish my maxima had ABS. My altima does and it stops like no other vehicle I've every driven. Nissan makes awesome ABS. You're an idiot for even thinking of pulling the fuse for daily driving.

Also... did you clear the code and then wait to see if it came back before replacing the O2 sensor? Always a good idea, because the code could be really old or a fluke.

I just had the EXACT same problem on my Altima. It was the idle air control valve. When the car was not warmed up and idled high it was fine. This is due to an auxiliary valve that stays open...

Nissan starters are notorious for making funny sounds (usually a whine or whir) when they are getting ready to die. I could die tomorrow, it could continue to work for another year... you never know.

Finally have decent brakes

Porterfield R4S pads do wonders, my brakes will actually lock up now. I highly recommend them to anyone else with crappy braking.

It rubs the plating off the part that the pads touchs yes. But this part is constantly being rubbed, so it rubs the rust off as well. The rest of the rotor looks like... well... a rusty rotor.

So I ended up with Brembo slotted & cross-drilled rotors that were not zinc plated. Don't ask, its a long story. Regardless, they're now on my car with my nice open wheels and ofcourse they look...

We replaced the battery... it had a bad cell. The new optima we got had a low charge off the shelf... but did start the car. It however does the same thing, after 5-7 days of not being started it...

Thanks for the help. I did call Urban Import (it's the same # thats on D2's website). They have a shipment coming in mid January... so this is probably where the group buy kits are coming from...
