Make sure the bulbs you buy are rated for 12 Volts. regular LED's are rated 3 Volts. they will burn in the blink of an eye if loaded with 12 volts.

Just unbolt the pins and pull out. Wipe the old grease. The pins should be shiny, or close to shiny: with no rust on them....
