The long wired one was for the RE4F04A and the short was for the RE4F04B. You should have the RE4F04B and need the short wire. I was under the impression that all USDM 02-03 Maximas had the RE4F04B....

The 5.5 gen is most certainly compatible. Where did you get the cable? Most of these cables are cheap as hell and faulty ones are common.
