Sounds like the car needs an idle relearn, look up the idle re-learn preocedure for your max it's very simple procedure with turning the ignition specific ways and disconnecting the top TB connecter...

With the car as is you can push the backing plate(dust shield) inward slight with a long screw driver and even it until it doesn't make noise any more :D.

Do you have p0505? If so I wouldn't necessarily start by replacing the iac. Also how does the car run? I have fixed this on my previous 2001 maxima a/t. Currently have a 2000 se manual :)
