The good mechanic I was using in Arlington has retired. Call Absolute Autowerks in Richardson off 75 near Arapaho. Kind of a long drive (30 miles or so) but he does good work and he's honest.

Never heard of Hot Flash products, nor have I seen them mentioned on any reputable detailing site frequented by high end detailers. A $30-40 polisher really isn't a polisher but a wax spreader. You need something like a Porter Cable 7424 XP or a Meguiars G110 v2 and they are in the $120-150 range. Anything less than that and you won't get good results. This site should help you out a lot: http://autopia.org/

Scott, I have a black 69 Cougar and at the last car show I attended I received a gift bag of Hot Flash car care products. Two questions for you, first off are the hot flash products any good? The product rep said they are used on a lot of high end vehicles. Second, I don't own a car polisher and wanted to know what you'd consider to be a decent one to get for someone who is just getting into the car waxing thing. I checked on ebay and there are several out there from heavy duty ones to variable speed ones, 7 inch to 9 in. I don't want to spend a lot of money but I don't want to get a piece of junk either, I was hoping to spend around $30 to $40 for a good 7in variable speed one. My cars that I'll be polishing are of course my black cougar and my wifes red Mazda, my Max is sterling mist so it will just get the normal wash and dry treatment. Thanks for your help, Martin.

I did not gut my cats, I bought some used precats from another member to replace mine. Still haven't swapped them out.

    Hey Scott,

Reading in the forums i guess you have gutted your cats? I am a little confused about all this talk about precats and such. I pulled this photo of someones exhaust off google. http://www.greghome.com/images/Maxim...xSE-YPipe2.jpg is the precat the pipe with the green mark? are there any more? thank you

    Scott,
I was wondering if you could give me some tips on removing water stains in a light gray interior headliner. Left the sunroof open last night cause I'm an idiot. Thanks.
