Now Available * 5g Subframe Collars!

Subframe collars were installed today; (along with LCA bushings from ES, and new ball joints from Moog.) The front end is amazingly solid. And travel over bumps in the road now go "thud" instead of "clunk".
Solid, stiff front end. Softer rebound. Exactly as advertised. I am very content right now.
Well done, carnal_c30. Thank you.

I've read all the information I could find. Unless I missed the answer to my question, I had a thought I've not heard addressed. With installing these collars, whether stock height or lowered, how do the collars change the suspension geometry? With dropping everything down about 1/4" I'd imagine there would be some differences. Does it impact camber or alignment in any other way? Does the angle the axles enter the hub remain the same? These questions make since? The collars are pretty thick, and although I do not believe they are causing any issues....I'd just be interested in knowing how the suspension geometry and other components are impacted by the drop.

Yes the collars do nothing to the suspension geometry, they just keep the subframe from moving around and flexing as they do with the soft rubber or the deteriorated rubber. On a 1998 A32, there was easily 1/4 of just movement in the subframe, we had no idea that the subframes got that bad but they do.
with the collars, you get back a solid feel to the car, that will improve handling, feel, and comfort.

Guess in my head I invision that if you install a 1/4" spacer (collar) between two peices, your are dropping/moving one by that much. I understood the subframe rubber stayed in place. Did I misunderstand something? I guess if the collars replace the rubber, I see how there would be no change, but in keeping the rubber.... eh, never mind me...I'll keep looking at it, perahaps I'll get it.

I just recently installed them, have a couple of observations.....installation wise. For me, moving from the b13 to a33. Directions, have a larger pic. Took a little looking to find the bolts that have to be loosened/removed. Doesn't say which way to install with the gap facing, or does it matter?? If not, saying so takes out so head scratching. But you have built a nice product and figured out how to make it better than new. Keep up with the "thinking outside the box"...... Mike

Great product! Ordered a few weeks ago and did the install with ease. Collars tighten up the worn out sloppy front end and allow my shocks to....absorb the bumps. Minor road bumps made front end feel like it was going to break apart...that is gone. This was second step in front end rebuild. Illuminas went in about 5k miles ago, next month will be E/S LCA's with Moog B-Joints then Moog In/Out T-Rods, then finally E/S sway bar bushings and Moog links. Amazon has best prices on Moog parts. I am rebuilding in steps to assess the impact of each product. These collars are a very noticeable performance mod.

Just finished up the install on these collars. There is no doubt that these collars are needed. Once I pulled the wheels off and got a closer look at the subframe I just about poo'd myself at the gap. My Maxima has 115K on the ticker so perhaps its a bit worse than others, but non the less it was a sad sight.
Installation is easy, 18V Dewalt Impact made quick work of the rear section. Unfortunately there is no way to sneak the Dewalt onto the front section so it can be a bit frustrating. With a little patients and good amount of persuasion its not an issue. I live in Central NY so I'm certain the snow/salt has done a good job of oxidizing the undercarriage. Complete installation was under 2 hours with only a handful of tools.
I took a quick spin around the block and instantly noticed the difference. Some people say its not night and day, I disagree. I noticed a difference just backing out of my driveway! The difference IS Night and Day.
Thanks for a great product! I recommend this to everyone, you wont be disappointed.
