There's the thing. AFAIK it hasn't been done. If you want to give it a shot, go ahead. It should work.

As I said above, no one's done it before. Almost all of those threads list what's similar or different.

Answer to your thread: no one knows for sure.

Not very likely. You'd be asking someone who would never attempt such a thing.

The first RE5F22A (5AT) was used in the '04 SE and above, up until what, '07 when they went to the CVT. The '04 SL still used the same RE4F04B (4AT) as the 02/03 Maximas, which is a slightly modified RE4F04A (95-01 4AT).

Well the front housing, as well as most parts are all the same part number, so we know it bolts up (not to mention all of the Maxima VQ30/VQ35s being the same bolt pattern).

The Nissan OE part numbers are different for the starter, but all aftermarket companies list it as the same for the A33 and A33B autos. What's different about it?

Since the front housing is the same, the starter should be as well. They don't really look different, you just can't see the nose on the VQ35 starter in this pic.

You can see the VQ30 starter on top (same for 4AT/5MT), VQ35 starter on bottom (4AT):

I believe the flywheel starter ring gears are different (teeth number). Don't forget that the Gen. 5.5 trannies are the same model number as the '01 non LSD trannies only. The LSD trannies ('01 AE) have a different model no.

Search, yes people have swapped to a 6MT.

If you want to use the '03 ECU, you're going to have to get an '02/03 engine harness.

I don't think so that i need 03 ECU for 6MT i just need 01 Manual trans Ecu, but there is separate Transmission computer (i don't know manual trans has it or not) and i can't use 03 ECU on my 01 max Engine cuz' it's 3.0

Wait, what?

There's no trans computer for a 6MT...what could it do? Nothing.

I know you can't use the '03 ECU on a VQ30.

So are you just trying to swap in a 6MT, or the VQ35+6MT?

so u just bought an 03 tranny from a junkyard and slapped it on your 01 max? Is it as simple as that? I'm planning on doing the same thing later down the line when my tranny goes. 02-03 trannys seem to be better built....(or are they lol)

What about buying a auto lsd tranny and swaping it with a non lsd tranny. Would there be any complications because of the lsd or the vlsd?

Are you a 5th gen, or 5.5?

The RE4F04B was beefed up slightly for the VQ35, best as I know. The RE4F04V you want to put in there wasn't designed for it, but it should handle it just fine, if it's been treated well.

All you need is a VLSD driver's side axle.
