Smashed rear corner window

Hey all,

Just woke up tonight to hear my Maxima's alarm going off...ran outside and someone had smashed the rear right corner window. F*** berkeley (and oakland for being so close).

Anyways, has anyone replaced one of these themselves? It looks like I just need to replace the chrome weatherstripping on the outside (it was bent during the smashing) and the window....but is there a trick besides cleaning out all the old glass?

Thanks!

ZachAJ

dont know what year you have, found this on ebay, you could do a search of the local junkyards as well. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/95-96...Q5fAccessories

If you want to do it yourself it's a screw at the top of the channel and a few bolts in the lower portion of the channel, roll down the rear window pull the weatherstripping out of the channel then pull the quarter window.

Reverse to put it in.

Heres a link to a write up I did. Its simple and you should be able to find the glass at a junkyard for 30 to 60 bucks

Its actually quite simple to do... I'll take you an hour tops if you've never done it before and you're a handy guy. I have a few laying around just in case something like that happens to me.

We had to replace two rear corner windows on my 91 .The 240sx lettering is actually a sticker but the black area is painted on somehow and its like they used a stenci painted around it and used a silver sticker to make it stand out.I do not think it will be too easy to remove without damaging the window. Best bet it to have a decal made with a black background and cover it somehow..

thanks all!

I will be doing this repair soon. I am thankful for all the info here. I just did a ton of work on the car and could not have gotten better help than here. We did tie rods, struts, ball joints, all sorts of replacement things. Today kids were playin at a BBQ and a rock got kicked up we think. Thankfully no attempted robbery! I will start looking for the glass tomorrow.
