Question about intake
I have read a lot about maxima's intakes in the past...wich is y i put my stock one back on. My question right next to where the air rams there is like a little resonator that is connected to the intake pipe. Now can i take this out and put a little filter thing they sell at autozone or will this hurt power like putting an aftermarket intake?

I made more whp with a cold air when I had one, before I went turbo! I just made piping from my TB to the driver side fender wall and made a hole in it and put the cone in there! If I remember correctly it made 8-10whp more past 5000rpms and made about 2-5whp less between 2000-3500rpm, The cooler the air used for combustion the more power is made as well, so if you buy some exhaust wrap and wrap your intake pipe it will make even more power!

Why would you want to put on an additional air filter? Just take the resonator off and be done with it, or run a hose from where the resonator connected to the snorkel to a cold(er) air source (i.e. under the battery tray where the resonator would be).

Nothing.
But will gains be seen on the butt dyno or a real dyno on a stock Maxima? Nope. Waste of time and effort IMO.
OP. Skip all this petty stuff and save up and buy a ypipe if you don't have one already. Best bang for buck mod IMO.

Just curious what would wrapping the piping do? With the huge volume of air that moves through it, and the engine compartment temps not really getting all that that hot, my intake piping never really gets hot at all. Now my intake manifold...yes....intake piping no...

it will make the car sit lower at a certain speed.

Oh nice! I'm gonna make an intake out of PVC and dryer vent tubing and wrap it and see how much more downforce I get. I'll be sure to fill up those headlights with the most viscous fluid I can find too.

I think wrapping a cold air intake pipe on an N.A. car would be beneficial. It gets pretty hot under the hood. I think this would definitely result in cooler intake temps. I am tempted to do this to my boosted intake tubing but the reason I don't is because boost itself can reach 200^+. So in a boosted application, one might run the risk of not only blocking radiant engine bay heat from heating up the intake tube (good) but also blocking heat from escaping the hot tube (bad). So, I just put heat shielding on the bottom 180^ of my tubing and leave the top 180^ unwrapped. With an NA car, I'd say wrap the whole intake.
