Thanks for the info. I just moved to the area and have been fully warned about the cameras in Scottsdale and the 101 but was unaware that seem to be scattered all over the valley. Are all these locations just for catching speeders? for people who run red lights? or both?

Ouch, makes me appreciate the fact that we don't have traffic cameras in Tulsa.

They sound pretty lame.. no effort at all on law enforcements part. They really shouldn't be legal IMO.

I believe these are only speed cameras. The list doesn't include red-light cameras.

And as far as the MPH you need to be traveling for these things to go off, the range is anyway from 11-15+ MPH over the speed limit. The Loop 101's are definitely 11MPH over, not sure on the rest however.

***UPDATE! As of last night the local Fox news station is reporting the 101 cameras have been shut off for two reasons.

1. The construction on the 101 has speeds limited to 55 anyways.

2. The state's 1 year contract with DPS (the company that maintains the camers) has expired. This means that they can renegotiate a contract to possibly put these cameras all over the state's highways or get rid of the program all together. I hope the latter but have a feeling I will be very dissappointed in the next couple months .

Cool news. I have a feeling it might be the former only because Napolitano is cuckoo for cameras...

No problem. I only hope others share my annoyance for them.

Let's not forget the DPS mobile unit. The vehicle is a Ford Escape with DPS markings. The last time I saw that one was underneath the ramp at I-10 and the 60. Guaranteed, they are probably going to use more of those.

Also, there is a speed van in Pinal County to be aware of. I have seen it sitting on Hunt Hwy from time to time.

For the record, if you guys ever travel to IL, they are starting to have them over there as well. The IL State Police have a marked van used for photo enforcement in construction zones.

As for Chicago, they mostly have red light cameras.

Speed Limits are reduced for tickets.

Welcome to the Fourth Reich.. Arizona, home of the Neoist Nazis.
If you are 6-9 miles per hour over the speed limit, you will receive a warning notice in the mail when caught by a camera. If you are 10 miles over the limit, you are ticketed!

The smart thing is to either...stay slow or rcall those whose wish to steal your freedom...

'A government big enough to give you everything you want, is big enough to take away everything you have.' = Thomas Jefferson.'

Looks like the "government" has started... Does anyone remember, "We, the people"???? Let's recall the SOBS!
