I mean...yeah, it was Towson (who knew they HAD a football team ) but....
Navy rushed for over 550 yards!
They did also throw a couple times (2/5) for 44 yds and a TD
Navy's slotback ran for 348yds by himself....on only 19 carries - nice average! I smell Heisman

Navy did lead the nation in rushing last year....but it's usually 4 different guys running for 100 yds each rather than one guy putting up big yards..

pretty good numbers, though, considering he was our #4 RB last year (the other three graduated) and only 4 starters on the entire team returned this year.
Also our starting QB was out with an injury, so the backup started and still ran for 75 yds and a TD and threw another....

Dave Megget is a Towson alum and also attended the Morgan State University and a running back from Navy getting the Heisman is possible but likely not probable.

Navy...routinely beats "big program" football schools, or at least plays them tough. The "powerhouse" programs are vulnerable these days, as there is much more parody in college football outside of the top 2 or 3 teams....
There is a reason why EVERY YEAR Navy puts in a request for Maryland to schedule them, and Maryland never does: Maryland knows that there's a good chance Navy's triple option would run circles around MD's 300-lb d-linemen. Instead MD schedules powerhouse teams like Middle Tennessee State, Eastern Michigan, and Delaware (oh btw who they BARELY beat in week 1).

you really think thats why MD declines??? c'mon wat about the VT's FSU's Clemson (who lost and was on the radar for ACC title), ACC is not a easy conference so yea Navy would be pushing the schedule ... it was week 1 chill they're breaking into the season

sorry to tell you this, but the ACC is hardly the premiere football conference it used to be, even with the addition of Miami and VT a while back. I mean...ACC is really a "middle" conference, and not in the same ballpark as the SEC, Big 10, or even the Big East....
ACC is in a football decline, and so is MD, which was never really known for its football until the last decade or so anyhow.
It will be interesting to watch as the ACC will be getting a big dose of what would happen if they played Navy, as Navy's coach of the last decade or so is now at Ga.Tech and installing the triple-option offense there. It's no coincidence that GT rushed for 350 yds in their opener and put up 41 points (albeit against a weak opponent) with Paul Johnson running the show.
We can compare later in the season though. Navy plays Duke and Wake Forest in the next four weeks....one of the worst, and one of the best ACC schools...

VCU vs GMU......in football, 2 of the 3 largest schools in VA = fail
