$110 for a Timing Advance at Woodfield Nissan? WTF???

Why is it so friggin hard to get a timing advance! I searched and found old posts saying that it can be done at Woodfield Nissan, and to ask for Pauley. So i call and ask for Pauley. Pauley says $110. I say to Pauley, $110 for 10mins on the Consult II? He says, Yep. I say to him, Adios! Thats ridiculous!

The posts I found were from 05. And the price was $20. Has anyone gotten a timing advance recently? like this year? Would like to have it done before Maxus. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think most people just find a tech walking around or out back and slide him a $20.

good idea, drive up by that area and eye down a tech. Pic one who seems like he would be able to do it, and wouldnt mind get a $20 for 3 minutes of work.

But make sure you watch him and see him set it to 17*

Go there...better than paying $110. Locals no longer have access to the $20 hook up and a dealership will no longer do it either.

Thanks Hectorc,

I'll call them tomorrow.

I remember you from Maxus 08. I was the gray bearded black dude in the Sox cap. Grey lustre 01 AE.

Guess I'll see you on departure day. Not sure I might leave earlier though. But I'll deff see you out there.

Thanks again bro. I'll let you know if they do it. I also have the Stillen lip kit going on before I leave too. Can't wait. Should be a blast!

Ultimate Z for Timing Advances

Well the advance is done. Those of you looking to do this can go to Ultimate Z in Streamwood as stated by Hectorc below. The cost was $45.

Do you feel this is worth it?

How about the longevity of the car, in your opinion, is that affected? Sorry for the noob questions!

I think as long as you use 93 octane, youre good. I noticed it pulls a little better now. I was reading that you should get a tranny cooler cause the tranny works a little harder after the advance. So i installed cooler first.

where did you get a tranny cooler? Is that for auto or is it used for the manual 6spd?

45$ isnt bad I had mine done for 30$ here in palm beach gardens. I'm only writing because I saw it orginally said 110$! Holy cow!

Got it at Pep Boys a couple years ago. Cost no more than $50 i think. Its a Hayden. Forget model No. It can be used with either. It just cools tranny fluid.
