I may not be in Iowa, but I'm right across the Mississippi, just off HWY 30. I actually bought my last Maxima in Cedar Rapids.

Yeah, no kidding. I can't believe there's not anyone from the Quad Cities on here, but then again I only see TWO Maximas in a fifty mile radius of where I live, and they're both driven by extremely old women. But I just got rid of my 2000 Automatic GLE in favor of a 96 I30t manual(I was tired of making car payments while in school) and the list of stuff you've done to your 97 is pretty much what I'd like to accomplish with my 96. I'd especially like to come swipe your oovi.

Haha. Yeah. the quad cities arn't tooooo outrageously far. At least we are surrounded by Chicago Max and all the guys in ohio. But it just sucks not seeing many people around or being able to go to meets or anying :'(

I saw a NICE 5.5 gen stroll through the middle of Cedar Rapids last night was nice. White, lowered with some Hyper Silver colored BBS style rims. looked nice. Couldn't catch up to him though

Yep - on Center Point road. Nice guy that runs the place. He was in graphic arts before the flood but can't find work now. Mine is black. I shopped around a few places including Jim Miller (man, are they expensive!). When I went back to Redline the next morning to buy, the dealer was walking out to "my Maxima" with another customer to go on a test drive! I had an anxious 15 minutes waiting. Luckily the other guy didn't buy.

+1 on Jim Miller being expensive. I worked there for a little while and noticed they had one Sunlit Sand 5th gen/GXE/AT that they wanted something like 8k for.

I'm in Cedar Rapids, but I think we touched base and covered that earlier. I've been looking for 16" stock rims (like 5 spokes) off 4th or 5th gen and it's like pulling teeth to get someone from the east coast to ship. I bought some Altima 17's and resold to a guy from Omaha on his way through. I'm going to have to get used to traveling. Driving a 97 GLE that needs attention.

Well first things first, it's in the shop getting all the mechanical stuff fixed up as it's my daily driver. I wont have much $$ for mods for a while but the 3 things im planning on doing 1st are:

-Short shifter (i hate the bananna knob!!)
-Front Strut Tower Brace (stillen)
-Suspension (not sure what setup yet)

I havent done much research on the Max's so Ive been going over posts on here for the last week. Been thinkin about SC'ing at some point. I saw a member here putting out 300+ hp/tq and started drooling. Diggin my 4DSC so far :-D Now if I could get it to handle close to my 1g DSM i'd be extatic!
