Choosing an aspect ratio

Hey guys,

Im looking for some input here in choosing an aspect ratio for my next set of tires. Im looking to purchase a set of 18s that are 9.5" wide with a 38 offset. Im really not going for a super stretched look here so from all the setups Ive seen in pictures it looks like a 245/40/18 is what Im looking for. Now Im wondering, does the stretched appearance have somewhat to do with the stiffness of the tire's sidewall? Maybe its my mind playing tricks on me but I feel that when Ive seen tires with super stiff sidewalls such as the BFG KDW2s with the same size and aspect ratio as say a tire with a not-so-stiff sidewall, say Falken FK-452, on the same width wheel, the Falkens appear more stretched. Thoughts?

Also, what if instead of a 245/40 on these wheels, what If I chose a 235/45?
How would the tires appearance change?

Thanks for any input guys.

Grant

265s on a 9.5 is a slight stretch its like OEM style fitment, so for a little more i would go for 255s, i think 245s might be alittle too much but u never know, all tires are different.

Ive actually been looking at the Nitto Invos. So far Ive had:

BFG KDW2s
Yohohama S-drives
Pirelli P-zeros
General Exclaims
Falken FK-452s

Maybe more, cant remember, I change wheels like underwear.

I think 265 is too much

These are 245/40s on an 18x9.5

Gotta get rid of the big wheels for now, need more rubber for teh naawwzzz.

Also tired of the crappy ride...

lol, i know Falkens&Bridgestones tend to be alittle skinner then most tires, Goodyears are the opposite they are fat.

yea i think so, the tires above are obviously BFGs and dont appear to be really that stretched.
