Hi
For my 97 GXE...will be better to buy tires size 215/55/16 or 215/60(or 65)/16 ??? in relation to ride quality and smoothness on the road .. maybe handeling too..
(rims are SE 5 spoke stock maxima rims 16 inch)
thanks
215/55r16 is the stock size. The 215/60 or 65 would make the speedometer off. Go with 215/55r16.
Also, the specific tire you buy will also determine the ride quality, smoothness, and handling. Think about what type of driving you do. (spirited backroads or just around town, non-aggressive) Do you have to deal with snow? What you want should help you determine the style of tire. Do some research on tirerack.com or discounttiredirect.com. They have a review section.
But as for size, stick with 215/55r16.

thanks..If I put 215/60/15 can you tell how much "off" the speedo will be ? is it a huge error in reading ?
I'd personally get a tire that keeps the speedometer correct. Over time it messes with the odometer as well. Not worth it in my opinion. I have 215/55r16 on my stock suspension 96 GLE and it rides very comfortably, and handles well. I have BFGoodrich G-Force Sport tires. Like I said earlier, the tire is a big factor in ride quality/characteristics.

Funny...I use that site all the time with my car club friends.
Sorry to ask again
Is it OK (no problem,no rubbing ,no speedo large difference.....) to put 225/55/16 in my 4th gen SE 5 spoke wheels ?as I want to go wider than 215/55/16
the tire calculation thread (http://www.wheelsmaster.com/rt_specs.jsp) showing only 1% differnece in speedo from my stock tire sizes..........
im wondering the same thing, personally i dont care much about the speedo, i just dont want the tire to look bad on the rim, i was going to put 235/50/16s ?? any one tried this before??pics??
