Fix-a-Flat in a tire PLEASE HELP!!!

Im pretty sure I have a slow leak in my tire somewhere. I have to put some air in it about once a week so its not a huge leak. I was thinking if I put fix-a-flat in the tire it would stop the leak. Or is fix-a-flat just a temporary fix to get to the tire shop? I also have chrome wheels and don't know if the fix-a-flat will corrode the chrome on the inside of the wheels. Is this bad to do? Are there any suggestions for an alternative to fixing this problem (without the obvious of buying a new tire)?? Thanks in advance

Haha we did this for a tractor, but simply, its a temporary fix. You will have to keep on using fix-a-flt once in a while in order to keep the tire "sealed"

My brother has a tractor that he punched a hole in by running over a nail and instead of getting the one HUGE tire replaced for a HUGE price, he just used fix a flat and it seems to seal it up nicely! Except he has to keep doing it like once every couple months.

Go get new tire. The fix-a-flat is only a temporary fix so you wont get stranded.

If leaks that slowly, it may be in the seal with the rim. You may want to try to have it re-seated. Clean the contact surface really well between the rim and tire when the tire is off.

Take it to get looked at a patch shouldnt be that much at all...
I put fix a flat in an Accord i had, because of a slow leak and it fixed it.
Was a beater so i didnt see it worth buying a tire for it.

* I wish SLIME worked for cars.

Took it to the shop and had em rebead it. When it was originally mounted from the manufacturer I bought them from, their machine took a small sliver out (not enough to effect performance) of the tire where it needs to seal to the rim and the sliver was folded and stuck in between the rim and tire causing a tiny tiny opening where air could only leak from when the wheels are on the car due to the weight of the car. Easy fix cost me $10....thread squashed. Thanks to all who commented.
