Rubbing issues on turns with rim and tire setup

Hi guys. I've been having some rubbing issues when ever I turn with my 05 maxima. I currently have Sport Edition KV5 19x8.5 with 48mm offset with Goodyear Eagle GT 245/40/19. I bought the setup from rims from tire rack through a local wheel store and bought the rims from that store. A few months after I had the set up, about 3 to 4 months, I noticed rubbing when ever I made wide turns. I went back to where I bought the rims and a sales associate said that the Eagle Gts have big rim protectors built in that were causing the rubbing. I did notice that the rim protectors stick out about a 2 to 5 mm past the actual rim. On the inside of the wheel well, one can see where the rubber had been rubbing up against. Even though I've had the car for about a little over a year, I've had to change the passenger side front endlink once and I'm currently about to again. I had upgraded to the racingline front endlinks when I initially got the car and the passenger side one went out about 5 months later. I'm back to stock again and the front passenger endlink seems to be doing it's rattling thing again. Could this rubbing be the cause of premature failure? We have bad roads down here in New Orleans but my 4th gen max never gave me those problems with factory endlinks. Also, what should I do about the rims and tires? Should I just sell them and get a new wheel/tire combo( was thinking of light weight sport style 20" rims) or wait till the tires wear out and get new tires with slimmer rim protector? Would wheel spacers work? I've been to another rim shop and the guy there also said the width of the tires due to rim protector may be the cause.

I tried the wheel offset calculator and it says I'm 9mm less versus stock in the space between strut housing and the inside of the rim. However, I can put my fingers between the strut and the inside rim and have space. It also says the outer rim extends by 3mm (sounds okay to me). Forgive me if my post sounds newbeeish, I did some searching prior to posting but didn't find the answers I was looking for but the 48mm offset should be ok?

48 offset with a 19x8.5 tire would be too much I think. Stock nissan offsets are what, 45mm and that with 18x8" on fwd at most.

if the problem started occuring weeks after install i would be looking for worn suspension components. the wheels/tires did not grow i promise.

even so, spacers would fix the problem and would definitely improve appearance in the process.

Thanks guys. What size spacers should I go with and should they be hub-centric? I think I remember some people recommending H&Rs initially. I'll pass by the shop and see what they have in stock. The original reason I went with these was because they resembled my Millie Miglia Evo5s I had on my 4th gen. I wish I had taken into account the offset though.

I have 20x8.5" +42 wheels with 245/35/20 tires and 10mm H&R spacers in the front, and I don't have any rubbing issues when I turn. Since you have +48, a 10mm should be fine, but I'd probably try 15mm. Hell, with my +42 I still want to try 15mm (I have 15mm ones in the rear, maybe I should just try them in the front). If I was going to buy new rims anyways, I wouldn't even bother with the spacers.

I'll probably just keep these for now if the spacers work. I would have to save up for the new wheel and rim combo since I just bought a place. However, if someone sells a used rim/tire at a good price I migh hop on those and sell mine. Thanks again for the help. You guys are quick with the info. Awesome!
