Huge price difference or am I blind?

Always got my tires from TireRack but I cannot wait for shipping b/c I'm leaving for a long trip Sunday so I thought I'd check out if they had them at my local Sears (I REALLY need new tires before this trip).
Sumitomo HTR+ 235/45/17
Sears: 167.99
TireRack: 88.00
Why is the price doubled? I keep thinking it's for two tires but everywhere on their site is TIRE no 'S' at the end nor 'PAIR' nor 'TWO'. Am I blind and missing something or does Sears sell tires in pairs only or is their overhead THAT expensive?
Honestly if their price really is that much per tire, I'll just put my steelies on and wait for TR to ship them after I come back from my trip.

The tire rack is going to be MUCH cheaper than any local tire shop. I usually save $100-200+ buying tires online vs. the cheapest price available locally.

Sears quote is probably with warranties, mounting, balancing and installation.

I wouldn't say "ANY" but I will say most. Depends on the area and who you buy from.

I have a local guy in a small town who gets tires for me cheap with fast shipping. If he can't get what I want, then I go right to the rack

And i agree on the above post; you really need to compare apples to apples here. Luckily I have someone who mounts for 10 per tire so I usually save a good 50-100 bucks for all four going with the rack.

Check your local Discount Tire/America's Tire if you have one. There's gotta be something better than Sears in your area.
