Size needed
Ok...I bought a set of wheels from another org member but there wasn't any info given aside for the fact he said they were a direct max replacement. I have a 95 GLE and he had a 96. They are 17" Enkei wheels. I'm not to up on offsets or anything because i've never came across the need to look. I'm at work now and i don't have the rim in front of me but I need to know what size tires to get when i leave here.
If they are a direct maxima replacement then is there no offset? I can get a good deal on a set of 225-50-17's if they will fit.
On tirerack.com they only give 235-40-17 as the tire replacement.
Would I have a problem with the 225's? Or would I be better off going with the 235's?

The 235/45 r17 is what tirerack recommends for the 4th gen

that tire must run narrow cause that's fairly squared off for a 235 on a 7. actual width will vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. tire rack's system is garbage. love the company, hate the site.
there's a lot of preference involved so it kind of depends on what you are looking for, however i plugged in some numbers and found a 215/50 to be a nice match for width (by my standards... on the tame side) and an outstanding od match.
disclaimer: i run 235 on 9-9.5, 215 on 8-8.5 so my recommendations are going to be towards the undersized because that's what i prefer.
215/50-17 is a safe bet though i would say.
