In need of tire recommendation

I have an '02 GLE and need new tires shortly. I don't want to pay for the performance tires as I drive in the city about 90% of the time.

TiresPlus recommended Bridgestone Turanza 215/55R16 93H w/ a 70K limited warrantee. They are $152 each. Anyone have any other recommendations that would cost less?

Has anyone used TireRack.com? If so, any recommendations?

Thanks,

John

General Exclaim UHP are good affordable tires. I have them in 18s on my car and love them. Tire Rack is a great place to buy tires. They have the Exclaims for 70/ea, but you're going to have to pay for shipping and install. If you have an America's Tire Co. or Discount Tires near you, they price match Tire Rack.

I agree. Go with General Exclaim UHP. Great tires, great price, wear well .... even with shipping cost from tirerack - they are still a great deal.

Also, on tirerack's web site, they have a list of contracted tire installers in your area. Prices are listed on the web site. Some are very cheap. You can quickly do the math on how much it will cost you at the end.

$152/tire is kinda steep for a non-HP tire. im defintely sure you can find a decent performing, long lasting tire for MUCH less.

tirerack is rated as a great site to get wheels and tires. i've bought through them before. great selection in tires and pretty decent prices. also check out citytireonline.com. they have really good prices.

I got some generals altimax HP $88 on tire rack with 55k warranty.
Found for 110 each installed local and when with it. For me I want a tire that is gonna preform well in rain and snow for the safety of me and everyone around. Going with a cheap tire and if you live in snow area are your gonna be pissed off. For under 500 installed with 55k H speed rating tires and have great tread design with rain/snow in mind, I have been very happy so far.
Also plus one for being over priced, look for around 100 a tire. In my area we have tires plus with buy 3 general tires and get 1 free going on for a heads up. I love bridgestone but now its like they are 10 different codes for each type.

UHP is a good tire compared to a lot. i have two on the front and they grab nice. and they hit bumps better than my old pro contacts.

I bought 4 General Exclaim UHP on TireRack.com and are having them installed by one of their recommended locals installers (Tire Kingdom). Total price for all 4 shipped and delivered should be a little under $500.

I will keep you posted as to the service on the install.

Thanks for all of your advice!

John
