Wheel/Tire Size ?? Need some help.

I have 17"x5.5" rims, wondering if 215/40/17 is safe to run on them?

Thanks,
Brian

5.5" width <---- this is for a Focus, not a maxima.

I bought these 12lb 10.5oz rims, so just making sure that the tires I have now will be ok.

The previous owner supposedly had 215/45/17's on them, but I didn't see any pics of tires on them.

I would say no. Then again, I don't know what tire brand/model you have and what the load rating is.... If you could provide those info, maybe I can help you.

Good luck with those bicycle wheels. 205/50R17 is min spec'ed for 5.5 inch rim width. Nothing else gets even close (you need a 7 inch min for the 215/45R17 you want).

I wouldn't do it. Wheel is too narrow
