thanks ill go with 235/40 then...think im gonna go with Falken Ziex Ze 512...seem like a great tire of the price. What do you guys think?
Most people like the Ziex, though there are some detractors as well. I have used the Ziex 512's twice, and while it is a good tire, I strongly suggest that you use the Toyo Proxes 4. It is available in that size, not much more $$ than the Ziex, and is a superior performer in all categories, IMO. Plenty of threads on tires elsewhere, though....so let's keep this thread talking about the wheels!

mine's not a 00 but I have heard people with 4th gen's have the same problems. I just put my wheels on and my center caps went on with em without popping out. The rears are def pokin out a little but still are on there pretty good.

I am looking for some 18" OEM G35 wheels. I am having a hard time finding any without tires. If I get some with the OEM tires (225/45 up front and 245/45 in the rear) would either fit on a lowered 4th gen. I know the correct size is 235/40 but if all i can find is rims w/ tires I don't want to just throw them away. I was thinking of just replacing 2 of them with the same as whatever is on the other 2 and then I would have 4 matching tires (in a wrong size, I know). Any thoughts on this?
Also, if anyone has any of these for sale send me a PM. I have been browsing the G35 forums.

245/45 will rub in the rear, especially on a lowered 4th gen. It won't rub all the time, but will over dips, speed bumps, etc - especially if you have people in the back seat or weight in the trunk...
I found both of my sets without tires

Sorry to keep bugging you but you seem to be an expert. I am looking at a set with 245/40/18's all the way round. Is that enough of a difference to keep it from rubbing vs 245/45?

you "should" be ok, but a 245 is on the wide side for an 8" wheel. technically it's within spec (depending on tire), but handling and ride will not be as good because of the steep sidewall angle. Your speedo will show a bit slow in that diameter/aspect ratio as well.
If they're a good deal, go with it, but plan your 2nd set of tires to be 235/40

Well I bought the 05 G35 19" double spoke rims. I can't wait to put them on after I install the springs. Can someone photo shop them on a 5.5 gen for me please. I've seen the single multi-spoke ones from the 04 model (I believe) but I haven't seen a 5th gen with the double spoke 05 style G35 rims. Tire sizes are staggered with 225/40/19 up front and 245/40/19 in the rear. Hopefully they don't rub with the car being dropped with progress springs, any comments? Thanks

why don't you just go outside, jack up the car, and put one of them on...take some pics....then put the other wheels back on. It would take longer to do a photoshop!
245/40/19 may have some major rubbing...I run 235/40/18, which are like 1.5" in diameter less than what you have.....definitely do a test-fit!!!

Yeah, I was thinking that after. Just sell the two tires and buy a smaller size. Maybe 245/35/19's in back to keep the staggered look? What do you think Irish.

I would definitely use a tire calculator to try and determine what will get you closest to stock diameter...that's what you want!
I think there's a link to one here in the wheel/tire stickies. You may also have to trim the little tabs on the back fenders (where they attach to the back bumper...reach in the wheel well and you'll know what I'm talking about)...I had to do this to prevent rubbing with my snow tires on 8" wide wheels/33 offset 235/50/17 tires

I read the whole thread, but did not see a definitive answer to this question. I bought a set of the G35 18's and was planning on wrapping them in 245/40/18 to put on my 2003, but I want to make sure it will not rub. I am dropped 2" on Ksport coilovers so there is some flexibility there. Is anyone actually running this setup yet?

put 235/40/18 on them, and avoid the hassle of rubbing. That size works well.
Thank you irish for the good information. I went with the BFG KDW NT 235/40/18 on the G35 wheels and I am very happy with this setup. No rubbing so far with about a 2" drop. As a bonus, this particular tire in this size is reinforced so it actually has a higher load rating than the 245/40/18 (95 vs. 93). This is way better than the 91 that most tires in this size come with.
As a side note for others, I did have to tap in the rear hub dust caps with a hammer in order to get the wheel dust caps to fit properly.
Well I finally installed springs and 19" G35 rims and no rubbing. I only installed (eibach) springs in the front and left the rear stock, it looks and handles great! Now I just need to learn how to post pictures?!?! Thanks for all your great info Irish.
I have read this whole post and have not yet seen this question. If I have missed the answer sorry (I am a newbie), kindly point me in the right direction and I will plod along.
A friend of mine has a set of 17"'s G35 (6 Spoke) with a good/new set of rubber. He is going to give them to me. I just need to make sure they fit.
The rims are 17x7.5 and 17x8.
The tyres are 225-50 and 235-50.
I have an '01 (w/16"'s) not lowered (yet).
Does anyone know of any side effects from running the two different size tyres? Of course once this wear, the next set will be the same size.
Hey fia f1 thanks for the compliment. You should be fine with that wheel / tire setup. I don't see any draw backs running a staggered setup, I think it actually compliments the looks of the 5th gen. You could fit a 245 size tire out back if you really wanted to make your car look a bit more aggressive or you could just run the same size tire front/back. If I were you I'd do a mild drop with tien h-tech's or eibachs or H&R's and run a wider tire out back to finish things off. With my setup I only dropped in the front with eibach's and left the rear stock height and all stock struts. The bigger 19" rims fill the gaps nicely plus my setup is staggered. Hope this helps you out.

02theMax... Great job on those rims/tyres
There's really no performance side effects, other than the fact that you can't rotate the tires (235/50 in the front WILL rub).
I am now using my G35 coupe 17's (same as yours) as winter wheels - I have 225/50/17 snow tires on the front and 235/50/17 on the rear (got them from a 350Z guy, used). The backs DID rub over highway dips and speed bumps, until I shaved down the little lip where the rear bumper meets the body of the car (reach into the wheel well and you'll see what I mean)...now it no longer rubs. Some tires are a little wider than others, but you should be fine I would guess.

great info....that you didnt use. i swore i read that the replicas dont fit......
I saw that post but I dont see that being an issue based on offset. I spoke to the company a few times and they assured me they fit. I will post my findings.
Did wesnine ever say why his set didnt fit? Has anyone else had a issue with fitment with the replica's?
He never said why they didn't fit. Just that they didn't. Seemed that he was complaining about the centercaps not fitting? Unfortunately he never seemed to tell anybody what the real issue was.
I really think that if the specs they post on the replicas are correct, they should fit with zero problems. 7.5" width, 35mm offset, and the correct hub bore, what else could prevent them from fitting? (Unless the spokes hit the calipers, but the odds of that happening are slim to none).

I just find it hard to believe that the company would blatantly lie like that. Now I know that it is eBay but this company seems legit. I've called 3 times, each time I spoke to a different person and the phone was answered quickly and very politely. The last time I spoke to the account dept to get the tracking info. Better experience than any other eBay service I've rec'd.
That said, it will suck if I have to eat crow and these dont fit.
Why buy them at all? When you put tires on them, it's actually more expensive than a set of real 8" versions with low mile Michelins. Never made sense to me.

I have a tire connection so I will be getting my tires at cost and the place will mount and balance everything for next to nothing. I think it will cost me a 30 pack.
That said, I am into these for 850-900 shipped, mounted and installed. I looked around and didnt see any 'real' infiniti's available at that price range. Some were close but I dont want tires that already have 20k on them even if they are Pilots. I get brand new tires and rims. For a daily driver I dont see a difference in the quality of these rims and the 'real' rims. I may be worng but I dont think so. Can anyone vouch that these rims are not of good quality? I havent seen anyone say otherwise.
As far as fitment the only issue people have reported are with centercaps. I can make that work. Not sure if there is enough space for a wheel spacer but that may be an option as well.
