New Kicks!

I just got some new kicks for my Max. I picked up a set of Gram lights 57 pro's, 18x8 gunmetal with a +40 offset. I've heard that you can run this wheel with no rubbing issues, but how will it look? I can get a set of H&R 5mm spacers for pretty cheap, should I just pick them up? I know a +40 is going to sit a little bit inside the wheel well. Plus, I need to get some wider tires. They came with 225/40/18 Kumho's. The tread is actually pretty good on these still yet, but I'm going to replace them anyway with a 235/40/18. I can't wait to install them, unfortunately I still need to decide on which tires to get. I'm leaning a bit more towards the Kumho ASX's because treadwear and comfort are my 2 top priorities, and they ranked well in both of those categories in Tirerack's reviews. Anybody else got any other suggestions? I'll post pics after they're installed.

i'm sure the ASX's are good tires, but the only experiance i have ever had with them were not all that good...they weren't on my car, but on my girlfriend's 2001 mazda protoge...first off, the were REALLY loud...i had never been in a car with so much road noise before in my life....after about 15k of driving on them, she noticed that one of her tires was flat one day, and we took the car into the shop to see what was up...they said (and showed us) that not only one, but 3 of her tires were literally splitting open right down the center....needless to say, she got new tires and these were a LOT better in terms of ride, handling, and noise....just my .02 on the ASX's but i'm sure a lot of people have had great experiances with them...

You'll find out how they look after you put them on.

I would run 5mm spacers for the rears

i just bought the ASX weeks ago, already has 800 miles on them. No complaints so far, quieter than my Nitto and Continental before it.

Gram Lights

Yeah, I've heard they were supposed to be pretty quiet, and pretty decent in the performance department. Maxilvr06, I'm sorry to hear about your experiences. But I'm glad to hear ANY and ALL input. I will probably order my tires next Monday, and once I receive them have them mounted and balanced, then install them on the weekend. Any other suggestions for tire choices? I'm looking for something affordable, good tread life, comfortable, and with good wet/dry traction.

I might just have to do that. I have the rims outside of our office at our body shop.............and everytime I walk by, I just want to throw them on already!!! I still haven't even gotten around to installing my Ksports.

toyo proxes 4...all the way....theyre not that much more than the falkens and they're awesome tires (although they are a bit more than the ASX's....)

I put them on this past Saturday, and it looks ok, but you can tell the wheel sits a little too far in. The actual wheels look beautiful (IMO), but they just look a little too small. I guess I should've got 19's. I ran across these at a really good price with good meaty tires, so I can't really complain. I guess I just wanted to mix up a little variety with my G35's. I also put in my Ksports at the same time, and pretty much slammed the car. I love the height, and the ride is good also. I'll post up the pics tonight when I get home.

your rims will look smaller because of the lip

You know what, I think you're right. Is because the lip is polished, or is it because the lip is kinda "rolled"? I was thinking the exact same thing on Sunday when I was looking at the car. Does anybody know off hand, if Gram Light sells center caps? I'm assuming that the Rays/Volk one's would work, but I don't exactly want to be considered a poser......if you know what I mean.
