Widest tire size for 2003 titanium edition wheels

What is the widest tire size you can fit on a 2003 with the titanium edition wheels... I think they are 7" wide.

Thanks,
Mike

Sorry to ***** your thread bud but could anyone tell me if the titanium rims are a chrome finish or are they painted? I may be able to get a deal but the finished is dorked(sprayed with acid based cleaner I think!!)

235/50-17 is also close diameter to stock 225/50-17.
235/45-17 has more choices. Falken Ziex ZE-512 are popular but not sticky enough for me. Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 if you want something sportier. I like Nitto NT 555 Extreme Performance stiff sidewall. Yokohama AVS ES100 are highly advertised and probably #3 popular affordable autox tire. Kumho ECSTA MX is #1 or #2 popular affordable autox tire.

Avon

OK, here is the best solution if you want a wide tire on the stock 17" rims.

Get the AVON M500 or 550AS tire in stock size.

These tires are WIDE, especially the M500. Get them from Tirerack. Stick to stock size. You'll be amazed by the performance, handling and price of these tires. Get them!

Huh??? My guess is that you work for the Tirerack, Avon or Cooper tires... The section width of the Avons is exactly the same (9.1 inches) as the original crapenzas in 225/50R17 (some would argue that the Kumho ASX should be the way to go since they are 9.2 inches wide). One look at the picture in this thread and you would be hard pressed to prove that those tires are as "WIDE" as you make it sound.

CCS2k1Max: What is the difference of section width and tread width? Why is section width important? Thanx for the info!

The section width (for example a 225 tire) refers to the the overall width of the tire which are the only published numbers. No tire maker publishes the size of the contact patch (including actual tread widths). In the case of the people going for the "widest" 225 tire, it's just for appearance. What's really important is that the contact patch areas of different tire brands will be pretty much the same for equaly sized tires (at the same inflation).
