Anyone who went from 17" to 18" rims please step in

Have any of you had to recalibrate you cars computers because you went to a larger wheel? I went from 225/50/17 to 235/40/18 and the Nissan stealership is telling me that my ABS is coming on when I hit the brakes because it is a huge difference in wheel size. I was not born yesterday, but does this hold any water? I mean it shows a difference of -1.8% difference.

Please help!

FWIW... I'm running 245/40/18 on my 4th gen, which is like 2-3% too big, as well as a big brake kit, and ABS works fine.

Well now they say that the speed sensor is not reading which is making the computer think that the wheel is in a skid. I hope this takes care of this! At least this make a little more sense.

That would seem to be a better cause for the ABS light. Switching to a different diameter tire/wheel shouldn't cause the light to come on.

I went from the stock 225x50x17 to a 245x40x18. They are very close in overall diameter. No problems.

Thanks for the info! I think they saw new wheels and didn't feel like looking any further. Turns out it was the speed sensor on one of the back wheels that is covered under warrantee. Still a little amazed that they came back to me with the wheels being the problem. Expect nothing and you won't be disappointed I guess!

Thanks again!
