HELP!!! Marker on wheels

I just purchased these wheels from an org member. I noticed that the lettering on the center caps were fading. Upon closer investigation, I found out that they were filled in with marker!! How can i safely remove ALL of the residue from the center caps without harming the finish? Any suggestions??

This is what they should look like

On mine, parts of the "SSR" are colored in.

Sometimes rubbing alcohol will remove "permanent" marker. If not, any mild polish (don't use metal polish) should do it.
