Emanage Ultimate + knock sensor input

Has anyone been succesful with getting the KS to read on the EU? Myself and Kevlo have tried different setting, and nothing. I even hookd up a seperate KS to the EU, tapped it with a screw driver with different setting, and not a single reading.

The skyline guys use "In. temp/knock, non-resonant @ 7.02KHZ", but kevlo tried that, and nothing.

I have also read on the VRT forums that you must use v2.0 or higher firmware for the feature to work. Can anyone verify this or know any info on this?

No luck here. IIRC, DandyMax couldn't get it to work either.

Dandymax used an analog voltage in to moniter the knock signal. Didn't get a count but he did get a waveform.

I never tried it, so I can't say whether it did or didn't work. I needed both air and water temp inputs so I hooked the KS up via analog voltage, as nismology said.

That is correct, the KS feature was not functional before then.

Interesting, can you give a lil bit of more detail on the analog voltage? if you dont mind

edit, just did a lil bit of reading on ur writeup and found the analog in information. im going to try this out! all you did was just tap into the KS wire and run it into the analog in? no additional settings needed, just load up the analog voltage log?

I see in CH setting you can select analog in to be Pressure, or Accelerator. Would it be Accelerator?

update on this. I am now able to pick up signal from the KS (In voltage as mentioned above). Ofcourse I have no clue what the readings mean lol. Basically at idle and cruising around, the average voltage is 2.40 (jumps around but roughly around there). So far I went for a run, but the highest voltage I saw was 2.80v or 3.0v. everything else was below.

The KS produces higher voltage when knock is detected? or lower voltage?

Voltage goes up. The mechanical stress (shockwaves through the block) is what creates the voltage.

Now the question is, what voltage represents a knock?

I just made an interesting observation, with engine off, ignition on and loggin with EU. I went and hit the knock sensor's bolt with an extension, and voltage actually dropped! cosntant v was 2.39, when tap drops depending on how hard, went down to 2.2 when i hit it hard... confused! lol

I found some information but I am not 100% if it may apply to our sensor:

"The circuitry in the knock sensor pulls the +5V input voltage down to 2.5V, the knock sensor then produces an AC voltage that rides the 2.5V DC voltage. A knock will cause a voltage spike in AC voltage that oscillates about the 2.5V bias, if the spike is above 3V it is considered knock. " Quoted from http://www.60degreev6.com/content/De...ensor_.28KS.29

So anything above 3v, hmmm
